TechTracker Platform
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is a national leader in deploying advanced transportation technologies, with a strong focus on innovation, safety, and sustainability. At the heart of this effort is the TechTracker, a digital platform deployed by FDOT to highlight and communicate the progress of cutting-edge transportation initiatives.
In addition to tracking the progress and performance of transportation innovation projects, the FDOT TechTracker also functions as a comprehensive inventory of Florida's transportation technology assets. This allows it to both monitors active initiatives, and catalogs the full range of smart infrastructure, systems, and tools deployed across the state.
This inventory capability is crucial for asset management, planning, and investment decisions. It allows FDOT and its partners to identify gaps, avoid duplication, and prioritize upgrades or expansions. It also supports interagency collaboration, enabling local governments, MPOs, and private partners to align their efforts with FDOT's statewide strategies.

Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O)

Connected Mobility and Technologies Program (CMTP)
This program aims to achieve increased throughput, efficient multi-modal operations, reduced travel time, improved safety, and system uptime.
Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO)
Florida's CVO Program provides support for policies and procedures associated with commercial vehicle activities and operations.
Traffic Incident Management (TIM)
Florida's TIM Program brings together public and private partners, from law enforcement to towing services, to safely and quickly manage traffic incidents.
Traffic Systems
FDOT's Traffic Systems use advanced technology, sensors, and intelligent transportation tools to manage traffic flow, enhance safety, and improve mobility across Florida's roads.
Safe Mobility For Life
Safe Mobility for Life is an FDOT program and coalition that addresses the transportation needs of Florida's aging population. It provides free educational materials and resources to promote safe driving and maintaining mobility beyond the driver's seat.

To increase awareness of highway safety, FDOT fabricates and installs Highway Safety Memorial Markers within the State Highway rights of way to:
- Memorialize people who have died as a result of a vehicle related crash.
- Remind motorists to protect human life by driving safely.
As per FDOT policy (850-050-004-c) Requests for Highway Safety Memorial Markers within the State Highway rights of way are to be submitted in writing to the FDOT Area Maintenance Engineer in the jurisdiction of the incident. Requests may be made by immediate family members or friends of the deceased, with requests from friends requiring the approval of the deceased's immediate family. Information required includes:
- A notation of how the name should appear on the marker.
- Contact information for the immediate family.
- A copy of the collision report.

These specific service guide signs provide directions to gas, food, lodging, camping and attractions on limited access roadways, and are available through the Department's Logo Sign Program. The Right-of-Way office hosts a Frequently Asked Questions website for this program area.

The Department of Transportation encourages motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians to relay their travel and transportation concerns regarding the state-maintained roadway system. There are many factors that can affect permanent alterations in traffic patterns and roadway navigational characteristics. We welcome your comments and questions. CVO / TIM
To request a Road Ranger, please click here or dial *347 (FHP) on your cell phone. Please note that Road Ranger service availability varies throughout the state.

The Road Ranger Service Patrol, sponsored by GEICO, conducts temporary traffic control operations for incidents, removes debris from the roadways, and provides assistance to stranded motorists. When Road Rangers are not responding to calls, they continuously patrol the expressways in their respective coverage areas, monitor traffic conditions, and report any new incidents they observe.
Motorists are not charged for the service. Also, while motorists are being assisted, they can make up to two local phone calls for free.
They should be able to locate you within 15 to 30 minutes unless they are detained because of an emergency situation such as a crash.
If your vehicle is blocking a travel lane, Florida law requires that you shall make every effort to move your vehicle so as not to block the regular flow of traffic. Once out of the flow of traffic, stay inside your vehicle and wait for help to arrive. Click here for information about Florida's Move Over Law.
The Road Rangers truck will move the disabled vehicle out of the travel lane, and, at the motorist expense, the FHP will contact another towing service to assist further.
Bulletins & Memos
Rule Chapter, 14-51, F.A.C., Florida's Highway Guide Sign Program has been amended to include statewide criteria for Wayfinding Signs on the State Highway System (Part V). This rule becomes effective on May 8, 2006.
