Systems Implementation Office

Welcome

The Systems Implementation Office improves statewide and interregional connectivity, system performance, promotes economic competitiveness, and congestion relief. The Systems Implementation Office:

• Advances the Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) through implementation of capacity building projects that will enhance people and freight movement, connectivity, and travel time reliability
• Delivers policies, procedures, tools, and training that promote consistent, data-driven planning decisions and improve project delivery outcomes
• Provides technical guidance on traffic studies, access management, level of service standards, roadway designations, and interchange access requests to support safety, reduce congestion, and maintain system efficiency
• Manages the Shared-Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail Program and the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program to expand multimodal options, increase connectivity, and support miles of trails and facilities delivered statewide

The SIS Implementation Section guides long-range investment decisions and advances priority capacity improvements statewide. The SIS Implementation Section:

• Identifies SIS capacity improvement projects across multiple stages of development
• Establishes a clear, phased investment framework that prioritizes projects on the SIS based on readiness and available funding
• Aligns projects with projected State revenues to support fiscally responsible planning

The Systems Management Section enhance system performance, safety, and reliability.  The Systems Management Section:

• Evaluates interchange access requests and highway capacity/Level of Service to maintain efficient traffic operations and reduce congestion
• Delivers policies and procedures that guide access management and lane repurposing to improve safety and optimize roadway capacity
• Provides guidance on multimodal mobility reviews to expand travel options and support balanced transportation networks
• Supports site impact analysis and corridor development to improve project coordination and minimize system impacts
• Supports the Shared-Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail and Transportation Alternatives (TA) programs to expand connectivity and increase miles of multimodal facilities statewide
